does it matter which side of the memory chip is up

April 17, 2012 at 17:13:52
Specs: Windows Vista
When installing the memory chips in my computer, I noticed that when the chips were installed the slots lined up in such a way that the chips had to be installed with two different sides facing up. Is this correct?

If you are using matched RAM sticks then all the modules should be facing the same way. Be careful you are not turning the modules end for end. They only fit one way.

The contact edge is notched, it will only fit in the slot one way. Do NOT force it.

The edge connector side goes into the socket, one way round only.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
