Hi Donna59. Can you clarify your question a bit? What are you using the sd card in? A camera, a wii, a computer, a phone? Generally, the answer is no, sd cards are sd cards, and any one should work as long as it's the right form factor. There are regular sd cards, mini sd cards, and micro sd cards.

Ok. The only thing you have to be concerned with is the form factor of the card. SD cards are the largest, mini SD cards are the medium size, and micro SD cards are the smallest. Usually mini and micro SD cards come with an adapter that makes the fit into the largest SD slot if you need them to.

There are two versions of basically the same product. They make MMC cards and they make SD cards. They make MMC card readers and they make SD card readers. Not all can be mixed and matched. Then there are size issues.

Since I never heard of that laptop, I'd assume you have a mmc card reader and it can't support the newer larger sd cards. Try a usb external reader that some other person uses and your sd card work on. Not all usb readers can read all cards.
