I have a USB QR code reader and want to be able to roam some distance from my CPU. Are there universal Bluetooth send and receive units for sale? I realize I will have to figure out how to provide power for the the unit but think I can get a power / data splitter adapter.

Instead of trying to figure out how to connect your scanner to a Bluetooth receiver /transmitter and how to power it, why not just get a scanner that communicates by Bluetooth directly. You would probably spend as much on a receiver/transmitter unit as you would on a Bluetooth scanner.

Here's one I bought and it works really well.

Here's a couple more.

Will the model you bought transmit a number to Notepad / the machine's current focus? Or, does it only work with a specific program for the machine containing the drivers and manipulator software?

I added the words "for tablet" to the Amazon search from THX and found this page:

Some of these appear to work with many Bluetooth compatible devices.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

No software is needed, it connect to bluetooth and transmits the data from the barcode.
