Acer / 5420

Specs: Windows XP
Hi, after installing Windows XP my resolution is only 1024x786 . I can change it to 800x600 (2 options only). I believe it should be 1024x800. All my pictures looks disproportional (vertically shrinked). What could be a problem?
Thank you for any advise

You probably just need to install the most recent drivers for your
graphics card - check the computer manufacturer's website for a
start.

Thank you johnr for the quick respond.
I downloaded from Acer support VGA ATI_v8.371_XP driver but when I try to install it gives me an error:SETUP cannot be proceed because the lenth of the specified directory path plus the installation folder name exceeds 88 characters. Please shorten one or both and try again.
I didn't specified directory. Where is that directory?
When I go true the drivers and try to update I choose folder where I saved my driver but it gives me an error that couldn't copy some files. What can I do?
Acer has 2 VGA drivers. another one is VGA_Intel_v 6.14.10.4820 _XP. seems like this one is not for my computer. I tried both.
Do I look for the wrong drivers?

kuwese is correct, your laptop uses ATI graphics. I don't know what made you think it was Intel? All you needed to do was go to the Acer site to download them. If you're missing the graphics drivers, my guess is there are other drivers missing too. You'll find them all here:

http://support.acer.com/drivers_dow...

Choose Notebook > Extensa > Extensa 5420, then select the correct operating system & scroll down to VGA

Thank you kuwese and jam,
I downloaded all drivers from Acer site except Bluetooth and touchpad (I do not use them). All drivers I installed without problems. Only that shinked pictures bothers me - I work with graphic.
I scanned system with DriverWhiz and Doctor Drivers, they didn't notice problems with Display driver (ATI Radeon Xpress 1250), but in manager device it is with yellow exc.mark.
When I go true the device manager and try to update, I choose folder where I saved my driver (yes, I unzipped it) but it gives me an error that couldn't copy some files. When I browse - file is there, I select it but it gives me same error again. If I know where to copy these files may be I can copy them manually.

under Windows/system32/drivers there are bunch of files and 3 folder: disdn, etc and UMDF.
is it possible to just manually copy these error files (see message above) into drivers folder. Or should I put them in one of these 3 folders.
Is anyone know that stuff? I don't want to ruin anything.
I tried uninstall that driver - nothing changed. after restarting computer it gives me message that new hardware found (ATI Radeon Xpress 1250) and I go true install process again - same errors.
