Solved Disk Drive Status Problem

March 14, 2018 at 11:32:07
Specs: Windows 7 home, Intel Pent., cpu g630, 4.00 GB, 64 bit
I have just run wmic diskdrive get status on my other computer and then did a restart as suggested by a box at the bottom of the screen, and upon restarting, I get a black screen with the cursor.

I have also turned it off by holding start button in.

The activity lite is blinking and has been this way for about 15 mins.

Unable to do anything on it. Did I do wrong or what, please?

I saw this on another post from Hidde663 where he said:

All i can think off it that the drive is starting to fail...
try running this command form cmd.exe & tell us the results:
wmic diskdrive get status

I ran wmic diskidrive get status in the cmd line and that is what happened. I have since fixed the problem. I was able to get on the startup screen and do a system restore off that screen.

All is well now,.

thank you

I'm not sure how long the test takes to complete.

This, it seems, is what you should have done:

Try turning off again by holding Power Off button for about half a minute. If it turns off remove the domestic power and if it's a laptop remove the main battery too. With it in this state discharge the motherboard components by holding the Power button in for another half minute then put it back together and try again. This procedure sometimes unsticks things - you might be lucky.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
