Disk Drive Problem

September 24, 2010 at 13:15:25
Specs: Windows 7, AMD/G.Skill
So I just build my first computer. When I went to start it up to install Windows 7 my disk drive opens once I press the button, but shuts automatically once it opens all the way. What should I do?

Disconnect the data cable from the CDROM drive. Now with only a power cable connected will the tray open and stay open?

Was this a new drive or not?

Yeah. I disconnected it and now it'll stay open and yes it's a new disk drive.

Yeah. I disconnected it and now it'll stay open and yes it's a new disk drive. If it helps the monitor also won't show anything either.

Did you ever build a system before? You should ALWAYS benchtest before final assembly. It's pointless to mount everything in the case without 1st confirming that it works. Now you have everything hooked up & don't have a clue as to what you did wrong. Here's what you should have done:

How to Bench Test Your System
