Specs: Windows OS
my friend has a problem about her disk drive...every time she inserts a cd/dvd in the drive the disc spins and the light is on...but nothing happens...so we went to My Computer, double-clicked the drive letter but it was empty...what could be the problem and how're we gonna solve that?

First check in the bios and operating system that the drive is detected and working. Then I would check that the disks are "high quality" (some drives are picky about what media they will use), then I would try a firmware update obtained from the drive's manufacturer support website for the drive (some updates solve the disk "quality" problem), if that does not work replace it with a new highly rated drive from NewEgg..

Are the disks your friend inserts new or burned disks?

Also, stating OS for the OS is not helpful. The version of Windows matters.

Find out if there were any changes to the hardware or any software just prior to the problem.
