disabled default monitor

April 6, 2009 at 07:52:21
Specs: Windows xp
I had reinstalled XP pro on my dell computer after a crash and found after the installation that I'm stuck with the default monitor (640 x 480). So I went into the monitor in the control panel to disable the default monitor. Result...Now the system boots, but I cant see a thing on the monitor! Also when I tried to undo this in safe mode, it does not boot into safe mode but rather I see a rundown of windows list on the screen. Help someone!!

"found after the installation that I'm stuck with the default monitor (640 x 480)"

That's because you didn't install the video drivers. Why would you disable the monitor?

"it does not boot into safe mode but rather I see a rundown of windows list on the screen"

You mean like THIS?

That's normal. Did you wait long enough for safe mode to load? It may take a while.
