Solved Dimming when plugged in to charge

April 25, 2015 at 01:40:34
Specs: Windows 8.1
My HP pavilion 17 notebook pc laptop dims now when I plug it in to charge. I adjusted the brightness and the power options but it is still doing this. I do not see anything else in the control panel that I can work with. I had this problem before but switching to a high-performance power option fixed it. now that isn't working. this computer is only 6 months old
Any suggestions

Contact HP to get it fixed as it's still covered by their warranty.
That's what the warranty is for so make use of it.

Thank you. I was hoping to avoid that since I am disabled and live 60 miles from the store without a drivers license. But I was afraid that might be the only answer

✔ Best Answer
Have a check here if not already done:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ph/...

Open Power Options by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then clicking Power Options.

On the Select a power plan page, on the left, click Choose when to turn off the display.

Note

Doing this adjusts settings only for the plan that you're currently using. To change settings for another plan, click Change plan settings next to the plan that you want to change.

On the Change settings for the plan page, choose the display settings that you want to use for this power plan when your laptop is running on battery and when it's plugged in.

Click Save changes.

Just to make sure--you've already tried another charger with a higher amperage rating?

THANK YOU SO MUCH. THAT WORKED.
THE CHOOSE WHEN TO TURN OFF THE DISPLAY SECTION WAS WHERE I MADE THE CHANGES I NEEDED
