DIMM slot not enable

Specs: Windows 7, i7-870 / kingston DDR3 1333 4x2GB
My hardware:

MB: gigabyte ga-p55a-ud3
CPU: i7-870
OS: windows 7 Pro 64bits
RAM: Kingston DDR3 1333 2xGB before and just add more 2x2GB then problem comes up!

windows said installed ram is 8GB and 4 GBusable
and in the BIOS it shows this:

Is the new ram the same specs as the original? Did you check the Gigabyte site and look at the ram compatibility chart?

yes I have checked and it was on the list

also all the ram i got with the same spec :/

Download this program and run it and see what the results are. Your BIOS shot shows the ram is recognized, but the slot is disabled. Try removing the ram and cleaning out the slot with compressed air. Also insert and remove the ram a few times to clean the contacts. You can also run this test to see if the new ram is good.Run the test using memtest found here.


I see there is no bios update that would apply to this situation. Also check the ram settings in the bios to make sure they're in sync. Last scenario is bad ram slots on the mobo.

thx for the reply!
well..before I add the new ram I use slot 1 and 3
and adding new ram to slot 2 and 4..
now slot 3 and 4 are disable..weird...
