Specs: Windows XP
I have two ram slots availabe in motherboard & had been using just a single 2gb ddr2 ram in one of the slot. have recently added 512mb stick in other stick, since then the net speed has fallen to one-fourth.. So, cud this different sized ram be a reason behind, if yes, pls share some tips to help? Thanx in advance

yup, yup.....now the computer works with the frequency of the 512 MB stick....it`s better to work without 512 MB RAM stick....

If you mixed RAM speeds, both will run at the speed of the slower stick. For instance, if your 2GB stick is DDR2-800 & the 512MB is DDR2-533, the combination will be 2.5GB of DDR2-533.

To answer your question properly though, we'd need to know the model number & FSB speed of your CPU, plus the speed for each stick of RAM.
