You need to clarify. If you are using Device Manager you are using Windows. What is the problem.

Are you using an external hard drive and it isn't showing in My Computer? If so, look for the external drive in DISK management. If you see it there, highlight the drive listing and post all the information listed for that drive.

I am using Windows XP. My Seagate sata external with USB is listed in Device Manager with other Disk Drive, but cannot be found with Disk Management.
It make lots of noise and stop, then Safety remove hardware show up but without disk letter.
I tried Partition Magic, Easy Recovery, Sea Tools, etc. No show!!!

So, the external drive is listing in device manager in the Disk Drive section? Is it listed by the name and full model number?

Did you try the Seatools repair options? Look at the link below.

From your description it sounds like the drive has mechanical problems. Did you drop the drive? Noise can be from two different sources. Bad bearings or crashing heads.

Go to the link below and listen to the possible noises for your model.

Does the drive show in My Computer?

When viewing Disk Management expand the screen to full screen. The external may be the last drive listed.

Do you have a card reader or do you use flash/pen drives?

If you finally do get access to the files I suggest you copy the most important ones back to your internal hard drive as quickly as possible.

Device Manager listed as ST932032 5AS USB Device.
No show in My Computer.
Remove Hardware icon only state "Safely Remove Hardware" but not drive letter.
No such drive under Disk Management even at the bottom.

Did you listen to the sounds in the link above to figure out what might be wrong with the drive? If you have crashed heads you can pretty much write off the drive.

Just click on the link in # 3 above to go to the site.

SeaTools can "see" the disk listed as USB-1394 5VE099V8 and tested ok, but have no way to access files!
Also, Seagate Recovery cannot be loaded with this disk attached to computer.
