Solved Desktop Computer just stopped working

April 8, 2013 at 04:51:03
Specs: Windows Vista
When i walked into my computer room found that my pc screen was black. I thought my monitor was shoot, but i checked it out by plugging it into another/older computer and its fine. So I'm guess its something with the tower. Then i power the computer on all the fans starts to running(3 plus the fan on motherboard) and thats it the monitor stays black.
I don't not much/anything about PCs so plz help.

Try disconnecting the power to anything not needed to boot up - DVD, network card. Clear out dust with a vacuum cleaner then take out memory and graphics and use an air duster to check the contacts are ok then replace. If no air duster, get the vacuum cleaner and hold it one site of the PC and then blow hard from the other. Just replace one module of memory - usually there's a specific slot you need to put it in if you only have one module. Then see if you get POST. If not, power off and then press the CMOS button and try again

OK, did you normally hear a single beep at startup? If you did, no beeps is generally a bad sign. It could mean either the power supply, motherboard, or CPU failed. Fans running doesn't necessarily mean the power supply is good, it just means that it's putting out enough juice to power the fans. Were you experiencing any types of problems in the days or hours before this happened? Is this a custom built PC or store bought? What are the specs or the make/model of the tower.
