Dell Latitude D610 No Power

March 1, 2015 at 23:17:20
Specs: Windows 7
I have this D610 and it refuses to power on. The power cord is getting power, but when I hit the power button on the laptop all the light blink once and then immediately go off. If I hold down the power button all light will blink repeatedly until I let go of the power button. If I try this with out the power cord plugged in nothing happens. What can I do?

It sounds like a faulty motherboard. It might be repairable but get an estimate first from a PC/laptop repair shop.

Hi Armpit, does the power cord have a psu midway?
If so, on which side of the psu, is the power cord becoming hot.

Is the psu an official Dell one?

I would first suspect the psu and/or the battery.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

Re #2

Just curious. I see no mention of anything getting hot. Are you saying this is usual?

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Heres two picture of the power adapter, I dont think this is the cause though, there's been 2 other ones tried on it with the same results.

And here's an actual video of what going on. I uploaded it to youtube, just to give a better idea of what i'm talking about.

I've taken the Ram, Hard Drive, and Battery out. Tried just with the power cord, no ram or hdd. I've tried with both ram, one ram in top slot, one in bottom, alternated ram and tried in top and bottom again.

What is the condition of the battery? My HP will not start with the AC power adapter connect if the battery is flat.

65W doesn't seem like enough power to run the laptop without any battery power.
