Dell Latitude CPi R System Board

Specs: Windows XP
Batt went bad so Ireplaced It. While the new batt was charging I left for a couple of Hours.
Came back and I knew it was not good it had that burnt elictronics smell. (@#$%^) Well got it apart and found the part that got smoked. I do not know this part or if it is with the mainboard or a part that is seperet of it self. It pluges into the mainboard flat on top on the left side next to the hard drive and the socket for the wireless card. The only number I found is PD. 0006188P-41014-01D-8T8F no other # Just the # for the ciricuit bord UL94V-0 made in Taiwan Thanks for any help

Was it a genuine Dell replacement battery? Irrelevant at this stage. Once you let the factory pre-installed smoke escape there is little to be done other than suitable burial.This unit is too old and too low spec to be worth the time, trouble or expense to try to resurrect. The visibly burned chip may not be the only thing damaged during the meltdown so you could try to source a replacement motherboard only to find the CPU was fried or the ram or the drive, (or your replacement battery)
