Specs: Windows XP
Hi,
I have a dell inspiron 6400 laptop of 4 yrs old.
It's battery is already dead and now working with power supply.
Two days back during start up it asked something(Sorry,I didn't remember
exactly, what the message is) after bios bar filled,I pressed a key then
started the problem, nothing appears on the screen.
When I tried to start again it is giving beep sound 2 times without any
display and further nothing happens.

When I insert a CD it is getting read but noting displays on the screen.

Every time on start up it is giving beep sound 2 times without any display.

Any help idea will be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

Dell beep codes can be a bit elusive but after a bit of searching around it's most likely that one or more RAM modules are faulty, or they need re-seating (ie remove carefully and re-insert firmly into the slots)

If re-seating makes no difference, it's faulty RAM.
To be sure about this, so as not to waste money replacing perfectly good RAM, test it with Memtest86 from here: http://www.memtest.org/

Download the "Bootable ISO" as a zip file. Unzip, then create a CD from the ISO file with IMGBurn from here: http://filehippo.com/download_imgburn/

Now boot your Dell from that CD to test the RAM modules.
