Dell Inspiron 5110 laptop locks up w/ colored noise onscreen

Specs: Windows 7
My Dell Inspiron 5110 laptop with Win 7 randomly locks up w/ colored noise lines onscreen like a bunch of flashing multicolored lines. it has done this both online and offline with no apparent cause. I have to admit I don't wait more than 5 minutes before I disconnect the AC adapter, and pull the battery to get it to stop. When I replace battery and boot up, it come on with the "do you want safe mode" and I boot normally and everything is fine. Any ideas?

Run the D key test to test the LCD. With unit off, hold down "D" key, while holding D key down, power on laptop to test the LCD. If you see full solid colors changing w/o any distortion, the LCD is presumed good.

Run Dell on board diagnostics as well by powering on unit, press F12, select diagnostics.

MOOOOooove! OH and you're welcome!

Did you figure out what the problem was? My Dell 5110 just started doing the same thing. I can reboot and it works fine for a while then eventually I get the frozen PC with the multicolored lines. Thanks.
