Dell / E521

Specs: Windows XP
Neither the PCI NIC card or PCI Rs232 card are working on my Dell 521. I have taken it to the geek squad at best buy and they say the hard ware checks out fine when they booted it up with their magic system analyzer disc and infact used the NIC card to the internet. I have backed up all of my data to an external drive and am uncertain what to do next. I have all of the discs that came with the PC. The question is, What should I do Next?

What OS do you have?

Did these cards ever work?

Windows XP, and yes both cards have worked in the past. Not sure what changed about a month ago. When the cards stopped working, I tried System Mechanic to see if I could fix it. I even tried to roll back the computer to an earlier date about two months ago to see if the NIC card would come back.

Did you resolve your problem?
I had an old router at home Netgear and just replaced it with a new ASUS one, it does not pick up my Dell E521 all my other devices, laptops etc. can access the internet, but the with the NIC built (Broad-Com 440x 10/100 integrated controller NIC) in the E521 it wont let me roll/install to an updated driver, stays at the initial install one, my OS is Window XP as well. If I switch back using the old router my dell e521 works and can go online no problem....this is insane!!!
