Setting up old computer for my kid. Using sata hd that was in new system as a bu drive. Now installed in dell 8400 and it will not recognize it in the bios or when installing Win7. I read that i need to install controller drivers via a floppy but a floppy drive is not available. I have reset the bios, tried different drives, nothing works. Thank you in advance for your help on this issue.

What appears in the 'drives' section of the BIOS setup?

You should have a choice of RAID Autodetect/AHCI, RAID Autodetect/ATA, or RAID On.....

Try changing this setting.

U heard it right but the sata drive has to recognized by bios first. Just make sure both data and power cable are plugged correctly.
