Dell D530 I can't turn it on

Specs: Windows XP, AMD 64 / 3024
On my D530 laptop the charger works until I plug it into the laptop. Of course the battery is dead. There seems to be a short or something keeping the laptop from starting up.

Try the power cord without the battery connected, if it works then battery has a short. If it does not work then it could be the power cord or laptop charging jack problem. Try to borrow a power cord you know works and that might help also. If that works without the battery, try charging the battery to see if that is good.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I would agree that it seems it is a short circuit.

Thanks fingers, your solution didn't work. I removed the battery then pluged the power cord into the laptop the green light on the a/c adapter goes off. Still showing some type short circuit.
