Solved dell 600m ati 9000 15 pin out to tv doesnt work

Specs: Windows XP
trying to tv out to my samsung via a new 15 pin cable. no tv in the ati display any ideas???

You haven't supplied enough information, Donald.

Laptop or PC?
Do you want the Samsung TV to be the primary or secondary display device?
Is the Samsung TV switched on? (must be switched on for Windows detection).
Does the Samsung TV actually work (ie not broken)?

sorry for not enough info...id like the samsung to be secondary, yes it is switched on, yes it works...its new...
but...i have s video on the 600m, maybe i should just buy a svideo cable and 15 pin vga adapter.
any thoughts???

If you have connected the TV using standard VGA cable you have to make sure the TV is set to the correct source or you won't see any picture. We now know you are talking about a laptop. Possibly a Dell Inspiron 600m.
I'm not familiar with the Dell machine but there is usually one of the Fx keys that are used to toggle screens on/off. Have you checked the user manual?

The Dell 600m is an old laptop, released in 2003.

You're not explaining the problem very well. You should be using an s-video to s-video cable. You have to enable the s-video-OUT port on the laptop & switch to the s-video-IN on the TV. See page 50 of the manual:
