Specs: Windows 10
My Dell 1800 FP built in 2003 works as a second monitor via HDMI with an older Acer laptop; but displays 'No Signal' when hooked up to a Inspiron 2330 built in 2012 via either VGA or DVI

The Dell 1800FB is an old 18" LCD with a native resolution of 1280 x 1024. It does not have HDMI; it has VGA & DVI. For it to work on a laptop, you would have to press the appropriate keys to enable the external display, PLUS you will have to configure the resolution accordingly. If you are using an adapter for the monitor cable, the adapter may be the problem.

"the Video Display drivers are not compatible with Windows 10"

The "video display drivers" refer to graphics card, not the monitor. Monitors generally don't need special drivers.

Are these Ports and connectors on your system?

Do you have 2 VGA connectors? One should be labeled "output". That should be used for the external monitor.

Yes, exactly, the only thing I need to know is if this monitor is compatible to Windows 10?
I've had endless conversations with Dell personnel and all they could come up with is the Video Display drivers are not compatible with Windows 10, saying it will work with anything from Windows 8 on down.
My laptop has Windows 7 and it works; my other laptop, a Toshiba has Windows 10 on it and it doesn't seem to work there either.
I just am looking for maybe a table or something that I can use to make sure a monitor I'm going to be forced to buy is compatible before I buy it.
Hope this all makes since, no one at Dell were much help and I can't seem to find any documentation as to what monitors built during what years will work with Windows 10.
Thanks for all your help.
Bill

Yes, I know all that; but the Acer Aspire I have works perfectly fine with an adapter from D-DVI to HDMI, without any setups on it.
SO, I'm at a loss - probably will just keep hunting for a newer built monitor to make sure, have finally found a couple that the people that have them say they will work on WIndows 10.
Have to get some sort of money/plus postage back deal if it doesn't.
Thanks for your excellent comments, I usually always resort to this site for the best answers .
