Deleting a partition on external HD

Specs: Windows XP, ??
I have a 500gb external HD, partitioned into 450 gb & 50gb.

I how want to merge these 2 back but using Norton patition magic gives me an error when PC reboots & just reallocates the partition to a new partition & does not merge.

Is there anything else out there that can do the job ?

Are the files on that drive the only copy? If so, you are taking unnecessary risk when merging. Things go wrong.

On that same note you should always maintain at least two copies of any files you want to keep.

There is nothing on either partition ....everything has already been erased

In that case just delete the two existing partitions and recreate an new big one. Should take no more than two minutes and can be done within Windows with Disk Manager.

The simplest solutions are always the best.
