If you are referring to the list in bookmarks (firefox) right click on the bookmark and choose delete. If not, have you tried tools...options...privacy....clear history. Clear history doesn't remove bookmarks just where you have been today.

If it is an icon in the toolbar right click and choose delete.

I'll leave ie up to someone who uses it

If you're asking about web addresses that have been typed in, try using CCleaner-slim. You should be using it at least daily anyway. I run it several times a day. Download & install the last one on the list, then go to the left column & check off what you do or don't want deleted each time you run it:

I had this problem and tried all of the different options but one address kept reappearing in the drop-down box. I finally fixed it by opening internet options, then the "content" tab then settings next to "autocomplete." Uncheck browsing history under address bar. Also click on the "Delete autocomplete history" button and then the addresses will disappear. At least that's what finally worked for me.
