Specs: Windows Vista, e6600 4GB
I recently connected my desktop to my 46' tv after having it hooked up to a normal monitor all these years.I was basking in the glory of half life 2 ep. 2 maxed out, and decided to play crysis.

crysis for me has always given me resolution issues and numerous bugs... but looks amazing.

well it was going smoothly til the game crashed and my tv went to black screen, now my PC gives me nearly the same issues this guy (photo reference) had http://www.techsupportforum.com/har...

my rig is nearly identical in that it's a gigabyte mobo and 8800gtx
my lifetime bfg warranty is seemingly no active right now though...

my rig is an
E6600
4GB RAM
8800 GTX
built in late 05 with no issues til now, I'm afraid I'd bottle neck any good to decent videocard right now with the cpu.

which leads me to ask if I should just replace the card or grab a new mobo and start building?

How much did u pay for 8800gtx back in 2005?
Just replace the v-card. Socket 775 is dead but it holds good cpu like e6600, if u have good board u can push it to 3-3.2ghz.
Here is good deal http://m.newegg.com/product/product... power requirements=500w +12v@38A or u can get GTX 460(better than gtx 260 + dx11) which use less power(450w +12v@26A).

Both cards listed in my first response outpeform your current v-card. I recommend gtx 460 but if u still have $500 to spend on v-card look for gtx 570(+12v@35A 550W) U.S.D 350(newegg.com).
