Dead IOMEGA 1TB with defective power controller

Specs: Windows 7
My IOMEGA external USB 1TB LDHD-UP P/N 31758600 died. LED flashes non stop, and there is no access. Drive seems to power up and down, but not with the ping of death. Power 12VDC fluctuates from 1.2A to .20A every 2 seconds or so. I opened the case. Using a Male/female SATA, I connected the SATA data cable to the IOMEGA,and SATA power to an external SATA power. Drive works OK, and USB contro;ller is OK. Issue is therefore the IOMEGA power controller. Changed the 430micF 10VDC capacitor that seemed bulged, but it did make any difference. Good news is that the drive -and the data- are OK.

Just use a drive caddy, or adapter then.
