Hi, I have a Clevo M860TU gaming laptop. The graphics cards recently died (nVidia 9800M). The rest of the laptop is in good working order. When I turn the laptop on I get a black screen, but the rest of the computer is whirring and the lights are on. I have an external monitor but it gets no signal from the laptop. Is there any way to get a signal on the monitor? Thanks.

Hooking your laptop up to a monitor just takes what you would see on the screen of the laptop and puts it on the monitor.

This means that if there is no picture on your laptop screen, there wont be a picture on your monitor.

Oh, OK. Is there any way to get around the blank screen to see an image again? Thanks.

To get an image on the monitor (internal or external) you must have a working video card. It will have to be replaced.

Ok. Final question - is there anyway to erase my hard drive with a dead graphics card? Thanks!

The only practical way to do this would be to remove the drive and connect it to another computer.
