Custom built PC shuts down during gaming

December 18, 2009 at 15:18:11
Specs: Windows XP
My computer Specs :
CPU : AMD dual Core 5200+
Video Card : 256MB Gefore 7600 GS
Power Supply : Corsair vx 450w
Motherboard : Gigabyte GA-MA770-US3
with a 2 gig RAM and a 160 GB Harddrive

My computer will just shut down or freeze when I was playing games like Hon and Aion. But I was using the new graphic card before (Geforce 8600 GTS 256mb) but then the screen corrupted. After a few times, my computer cannot detect the 8600 GTS so I think that graphic card is dead now. So I changed back to my old graphic card Geforce 7600 Gs. I thought everything will be fine after I used the old graphic card since it was working perfectly fine before. But now whenever I tried to play games, the computer just freeze and shutdown. Only when I play games tho.

After that, I swapped my graphic card with my friend, his graphic card is Geforce 7600 GT and it works fine (just tested for 2 hours). So I assumed that it is my graphic card problem. But I also inserted my graphic card 7600GS to his computer and his computer works fine in game for and hour too. So I have no idea whats wrong with my computer now ;/.

Can anyone help ?

Thanks

I checked the temp of Gpu. It's 70 degree when idle. Is that normal ?

Yes I did. I am pretty sure its the video card problem too. But I am just wondering will the motherboard having problem too? Since that card is working fine in my friends computer too. Or maybe its because of my cooling system?

My computer cannot detect the 8600 GTS now. Thats why i think its broken. Cpu temperature is 40 when idle. 49 when working on something, like gaming.
