crazy cursor, messed up mouse

January 14, 2012 at 07:51:34
Specs: Windows Vista
Sometimes, the cursor will suddenly go to any random point on the screen and a tiny window appears and you can actually scroll to the top or bottom of screen without going over to the "right side cursor"; or "scroll bar". I have tried scans and other suggestions from here to no avail.
This is on my laptop, which is current with all vista updates, service packs, etc. ...i.e. using finger for mouse (scrolling area is clean)

Make sure your touchpad (it's called a touchpad on a laptop, not a mouse) is not set to "autoscroll".

You might also want to try re-installing the touchpad's driver, you can download it from your laptop maker's website.

Touchpad....I knew there was a reason I came here.....I'll see if a non-geek like self can figure out how to turn autoscroll off...of course, it doesn't always do it , which is why I didn't think this was the answer...but I'll check it and get back. Thanks...
...I said never again....darned if I didn't go and do it a 4th time!
