Solved cq62 will not start.

Specs: Windows 7
My daughter has a Compaq Presario CQ62. When we turn it on, it sounds like it's running, but the screen does not work. It is black. We tried plugging in an external monitor, but that would not work either. Also, the caps lock light has come on, and will not go off. What should we do?

When you turn it on, tap F8 about 5 or 6 times. If you get to the menu, choose VGA mode or last known good config.

I've tried F8 already. It doesn't work. Still black screen. Any other ideas?

✔ Best Answer
try removing battery and ac power source then press the on button for about 60 seconds then put the battery back in and connect power cord back to it and see if it will turn back on

Thank you, David! You are an angel! That worked like a charm! It is on and seems to be working properly, installing updates and such. We'll see how it works after the updates have installed. I think she may have turned her computer on and tried to exit the update installation before it finished, and perhaps that's what caused the problem. Is that possible? Regardless, thank you for your assistance with this problem. You have made my daughter a very happy girl. Have a blessed day!
