Solved CPU freeze often and the POST is slower

July 30, 2011 at 11:17:50
Specs: Windows XP
The CPU freezes randomly without the Blue screen of death. It runs normally when first turning it on. But after a random time it freezes on its own, the mouse and keyboard don't respond. When resetting it, the POST runs very slow. Sometimes it just won't run the POST.

No preventive maintenance has been performed on it, such as cleaning the fan.
It is an Intel Dual Core, 512MB of RAM, Windows XP,160GB hardisk.

My opinion is that the motherboard may be faulty or the hard disk is faulty.

I would like to have your advice on it guys...

"No preventive maintenance has been performed on it, such as cleaning the fan."

Then that very well may be your problem. First thing to do is clean the entire machine out. By doing so, you may also notice other "more-obvious" problems in the process (such as connection issues or bulging caps)...

I did a cleaning on the cabinet and removing away dust particles. Then, I installed a fresh copy of Windows.
As a result, the pc runs normally without freezing...

I think that heat buildup was the origin of the problem. The cabinet housing was really in a dirty state as well as for the heat sink fan..awful

Anyway thanks for the response...
