Did you use acronis to make the image or did you simply copy files with windows?

I found an accessary in my program that was called "shadow". I used that to copy everything in my computor and then sent it to my external harddrive. the folder named itself "backup" windows backup file. I wanted to use Acronis but the disc will not boot. neither my eternal hardrive w/ the file on it or the Acronis disc are accessable when I put in the new hardrive and start up the computor.
