continuous beeps

Specs: Windows XP, 478 3ghz ht processor 1 gig pc3200 400mhz ram
my computer is giving out long continuous beeps i get no image on the screen when i start the computer i have tried 2 different graphic cards tried moving my memory around but still giving out long beeps the memory i have in my system is 1 gig pc3200 400mhz ram

It`s most likely memory problem. If you use two RAM Sticks, try to boot up with one only. If the problem persists, please try different RAM memory.

for long continous beeps could it be the memory slots which are not working or is it the ram

Right. First try to reseat the RAM Modules. If that won`t work, try another memory. If still beeping, it`s the memory modules I guess (unless the memory sticks are incompatible with the motherboard.)
