Specs: Windows XP
I took my computer into geek squad and when they pulged it in it made no noise. So there was no proble to fix. As soon as I got home and pluged it back it, instantly the noice was back and has not stoped. How should I try and fix it when it only happens at home?

Desktop? Take the side panel off. Find a paper towel tube.
Start the computer and use the tube to locate where the noise is coming from.

It is either a fan, hard drive a:drive, cd rom or power supply.
One could be loose or the bearings are going.

Could just be a cable rubbing on a fan.

Why did you take the computer to the Geek Squad?

My cp got the blue screen of death on start up so I took it in to get the virous and worm out. The computer ran fine at the store. Then I took it home and it started to make the noise again and my mcafee was infected still with a worm. I took it back and they fixed the worm and still my computer made no noise at the store. I took it home and as soon as the power cord was pulged in it started making the noise again. Could it be lacking power? I dont know it is weird.

Are you letting the case come to room temperature before starting it?
