Microsoft Microsoft windows xp professio...

Specs: Windows 7, /3gig
When I plug in my phone to the usb drive I cannot see it in the Computer. It does make a noise when I plug it in but I cannot open the contents in Explorer or even see the drive.

I am plugging it into the same drive as I use for the memory stick -and that works perfectly.
When I first used this phone I used special software to read and transfer files to the PC but , since this software no longer works on my new PC (windows 7) I am trying to use Explorer instead...

If the phone required special software to transfer files previously, it is certain it still need special software to transfer files. The only exception to this is of the phone is running a version of Windows CE in which case Windows 7 has the facility built in.

Any other OS running on the phone and you will need to contact the phone manufacture and see if they have any Windows 7 Compatible software.

thanks very much for your help.
It is what I thought but the man in Maplins (an electronics store) thought I should be also able to operate the phone/pc connection without the (Samsung) software
Maybe he was wrong then
thanks again

I wouldn't trust the staff of Maplins to get anything right when it comes to technical advice. They are very good salesmen and they do sell some good stuff but that is far as it goes,. The only time I go to Maplins is when I know exactly what I want and how much I expect to pay for it.

well I had forgotten the code for the usb card reader that I wanted to buy and so was pleasantly surprised when the guy said he was almost sure that I didn't need it anyway. But when I got home my phone didn't show up in "my computer" after all.
So I might have to get the card reader next time I am in town-and check ahead that they have it in stock.
