http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/st...I am wanting to be able to watch videos from my laptop on my tv, using the sound from the tv and not the laptop. Both have hdmi connections, so I know I will need to pick up an hdmi cable. I remember the guy who sold me the tv saying something about needing to buy speakers to be able to use the sound on the tv. I'm pretty clueless about this stuff, can anyone offer advice or info? Thanks for reading!
Your TV has two built in speakers and a 20 watt amp so you won't need to buy external speakers unless you want better sound. It will be fairly simple to connect the two. Run the HDMI cable from the laptop to the TV. Select the correct HDMI input on the TV and you should be good to go. You may need to toggle the video output on your laptop so the signal goes to the HDMI output.
Thank you for the reply! To clarify, the tv will continue to play sound like I was watching a tv show on it, even if I am watching a downloaded video?
No, if you have it swtched toi the HDMI input and are watching video from the laptop, you will also get audio from the laptop
I connected my laptop to my tv via hdmi cable and it worked perfectly... no need to do anything with the audio! Thanks for the help!
sorry for the -1, accidentally went down instead of up distracted by my little fella!
You're welcome, glad you got it working.
