Computer won't turn on

October 27, 2011 at 18:35:44
Specs: Windows Vista
I have a Dell XPS 200. I shut it down the other night with no problems. When I went to turn it on in the morning, the power button, which is usually a solid amber, only blinked intermittently. I held in the power button, but nothing happened. Sometimes the power button flashes amber for a little bit, but still nothing. All power cords are working. The green light on the motherboard is a solid green.
One time, after this happened, I saw the screen flash the blue "Dell" symbol on the black screen. Also, I could turn on the speakers.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Tons of family photos are on this computer!

The first priority should be preserving your data. I would remove the hard drive and use another computer to recover your photos. Then try to repair the computer. Look like a partial power supply failure.
