Computer won't start - Black screen

September 3, 2011 at 06:56:30
Specs: Windows 7 64bit SP1, I7 870/ 16 GB Ram

I know that long threads aren't normally read, but I'm trying to add as much detail as possible so anyone could help me solving my problem.
Yes, I already looked into Google, but nothing worked so far.

Computer Specs:
Asus P7P55D-E Pro MB
Intel I7 870 Processor
4x 4GB Corsair XMS3
2x GeForce GTX 460 in Sli
2x Samsung 1.5 TB in Raid 0
Corsair TX850W Power Supply

Windows 7 SP1 64bit

What happened:
My wife was using the computer when it maked 1 or 2 beeps, and the screen went black.
She could still hear the coolers running.
She pressed the reset button, and the computer booted into windows. She entered the password as usual, and as soon as she logged in she realized that mouse and keyboard (USB) were not working anymore.
She turned the computer off and on. Since then the problem is always the same.

The Problem:
The coolers are making noise and I can hear the 1 beep sound when turning the computer on.
The screen remains black, and from the sound I hear, I don't think that the system is booting. It's just on and black.
It doesn't even shows up the BIOS screen.

What I tried:
I tried booting with one or the other RAM slot, and tried the eraser trick on the RAM. - nothing
Remove all RAM - Motherboard makes a lot of beeps

Tried removing one of the graphic cards - nothing
Tried booting with the other graphic card - nothing
Booting with no graphic card - Motherboard makes a lot of beeps

I also tried to remove and reposition the processor cooler - nothing

The last thing I did was clearing the CMOS. After that, I hear a second single beep after the first single beep.
The LED blinking order on the Motherboard is the following:
On button - Processor LED on/off, RAM LED on/off, again Processor LED on/off, RAM LED on/off, VGA LED on/off - first beep (about 8 seconds after On button)
HDs LED on/off - second beep (about 8 seconds after first beep)

Please! I don't know what else to do!
I don't think that the problem lies on the Motherboard, and the PSU is strong enough (I think).

Can anyone help me?

One beep when the computer is first powered on means the the computer has successfully passed the power on selft test or POST. The one beep with a short beep indicates a motherboard failure somewhere, and based on what you have tried, it may be best to take it to a shop with better diagnostics.

Thank you for your quick response, HopperRox!

Unfortunately taking the computer to the shop isn't really an option for me, since I build it myself using parts from different online shops.
It was running great for 6 months!

Reading your post, I've got the impression that you understood that the second time the motherboard beeps it's 2 times (normal and short) but that is not the case.
The second beep is as long as the first one. (normal). The second beep only started after I cleared the CMOS.

Could it possibly be the PSU?
