Specs: Macintosh 10.5.8, 1gb 512mb
I have an old Fujitsu 30gb hard drive (for a laptop.) It won't work in either of the two computers i've tried and I want to use it as an external hard drive and I have a usb adapter but it still won't work. It makes a noise so I know it's got power in there but the computer just won't recognize it! Please! I need help, i desperately want it as an external hard drive. Would completely wiping it help and if so how do I do that if no computer will recognize it???

Have you looked in disk management to see if it shows up?

It stated that it could not find a main hard drive "Main hard drive-none"

A 30 gig drive is pretty old, it's possible it has given up the ghost.

given up the ghost? I don't know what you mean, but is there any way I could recover this harddrive to make it work again?

Given up the ghost means it died. If it isn't being recognized by two different systems, it's most likely dead.
