I am running Windows XP SP3. I have a Lacie 250 GB firewire hard drive. The computer's device manager says that the drive is working. However, when I click on My Computer, the drive is not there. It seems to be invisible to the computer.

is this a new drive? If so go to the control panel, click "administrative tools" and then "computer management" then select "disk management" it will show a list of connected devices...see if it is in the list...if it's a new drive it will not show up until the drive is formatted for use.

Thanks. It was somewhat helpful. I gave the drive a "clean" format. The drive is listed as "basic". I tried changing that to "dynamic". For some reason, the computer says that I can't do that. The drive is still not listed in "My computer". What is a basic drive, and why can't I access it?
