I got this computer about 4 days ago. Ever since I have had it, it beeps on boot up, but works fine. It beeps before the screen turns on. I replaced its video card the day after I got it, so that can't be it. Help?

✔ Best Answer
It's supposed to emit a single, short beep when it's turned on. That means all essential hardware is present & working.

The above poster is correct. Some systems produce two single short beeps.

Oh. What about when it's turned on and randomly beeps?

Those beep or beeps are produced when the system is turned on(1 short beep before post screen then 1 short beep after post screen).
If the crucial component is bad like RAM u will hear different beeps.

The beeps are a code. There are NOT random. Different beep patterns mean different things. A single beep means the system has successfully completed the POST (Power On Self Test).

When I resumed it from sleep this morning this is what I heard:
beep...(disc drive reading disc)(screen turns on)
5 seconds later..
beep.
15 seconds later...
beep.
...?
