Computer turns off without warning

Specs: Ubuntu, intel core 2 duo/ 2g ddr2
I am dual-booting both Ubuntu and Windows Xp (sp3) and have recently come across the problem that my computer will turn off on it's own without warning. this appears to only happen when i am watching a video (be it online like youtube or with the movie player) or playing games (on the windows side). i have a Nvidia gts 250. i don't believe it's an overheating problem as all fans seem to be running fine and i have a water-cooling system for the cpu. i am not overclocking either. i don't believe it's a virus either as nothing has shown up on scans and it's happening on both operating systems. any suggestions?

p.s. i believe it is either a problem with my power supply or the graphics card, but i was looking for a way to confirm this.

Give me your total computer specs, BTW it could be a HDD failure too.
