Did you verify the overheating by checking the temps via the bios or monitoring software?

Since you had to remove the heatsink to apply the paste maybe you didn't get the heatsink back on exactly right.

Or, when applying the paste you just use a thin film. Using so much that it squishes out when you tighten down the heatsink can cause problems.

Did you blow the dust out of the heatsink and fan with compressed air also?

I made sure that I did t apply too much paste so thats not it. Also my fan and heatsink were clean. Could it be because my heatsink is too small or isnt good enough? Im bringing the comp in to bestbuy tomorrow.

As long as the fan is spinning good and since it seems like you did everything right my guess at this point is it's not a heat problem. It could be a problem with the power supply motherboard or a peripheral--a drive, add-on card or a USB device (if any are connected). Sorry I can't really be more specific than that and since you're going to take it to best buy to get checked out tomorrow let's wait and see what they say.

I would advise checking voltage supplied by the PSU to the main-board with multi-tester and get the system maintenance guide for appropriate voltage. If possible get a similar working perfect PSU to test. More so, observer when the system normally stopped to see whether PSU restart itself. Or test system with only primary components; motherboard, RAM, CPU & heatsink and monitor.

NOTE: No drives.
