Computer not turning on HELP

Specs: Windows XP
Okay so out of nowhere the my mouse starts to freeze up then eventually i hard power off the computer. When I try to turn it on the monitor is not responding and there is no green light but only a red solid (not blinking) light. I tried changing out the power supply and then It started up but then it froze up again. When I go to turn on the computer again the red light comes back :( HELP PLEASE

Test the hard drive. Ascertain what brand it is, then download the diagnostic software from the relevant link in the list at the top of this page:

Be aware you will need to download the DOS Version of the testing software since Windows won't start. Make a bootable CD from the download (on a working PC of course), then boot the broken PC from it.

Test your memory (RAM) before testing the hard drive since a bad ram stick can cause a problem during the testing that may appear as a hard drive problem. Use Memtest86 for the testing, it runs off the CD you burn it to and does not use Windows or your hard drive during the tests.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
