How did you check the powersupply? If it is indeed OK then identifying which component/s are faulty is a process of elimination.

Disconnect all power & data cables from floppy/optic & hard drives. Unplug any USB devices and take out any PCI cards. Leave only Known good powersupply, CPU with heatsink & fan, 1 stick of ram, graphics card, keyboard & monitor.

Most motherboards will exhibit at least an LED if there is power present. even before hitting the startup switch. If no power is getting to the motherboard at all then the board is likely to have failed. I still suspect your powersupply.

Did you try plugging it in to a receptacle and bypassing the smps? It sounds like a dead power supply.

SMPS = Switch Mode Power Supply ie ATX PSU
Not sure how one would bypass the system's powersupply
Unless the OP is confusing the SMPS with a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) in which case bypassing a UPS and connecting direct to a mains outlet is an appropriate first step.

Reseat the power connectors.....if it won`t work again, probably you have a faulty power supply...if you`re sure the power supply is OK, then please try it on another computer.....
