|Off and on for quite some time now my internal CD/DVD-R/RW has been having some trouble when recognizing blank media.|
When trying to burn a CD I insert the CD-R and nero, CD burner XP and Foobar (with the CD burning plugin installed) all don't even see my CD-ROM drive. The only device I can choose is an image recorder, there is no option to use the CD-Rom drive to burn a CD.
Occasionally it'll start working again, and I can burn a CD or two, but lately it has been very annoying and just will not work.
I can burn DVD's just fine, and the drive is reading everything just fine, it just doesn't recognize blank CD media.
Initially I thought it was because the drive is USB (says my hardware manager anyway) and because Nero checks IDE only I figured that was the problem, so I updated my motherboard drivers to see if that would help fix something. Apparently that's not the case because NO program is recognizing the drive at all when a blank CD is inserted. It's like when I insert a blank CD the drive disappears into neverland, but as soon as a disc with data on it is inserted the drive reappears all happy and ready to go.
I'm very frustrated so any help would be amazing! Thanks so much!
Not sure if it's of any help but I'm running WinXP SP2 with an Nvidia nForce4 motherboard.
