Computer Fan makes Buzz/Grind Noise

April 12, 2009 at 02:01:13
Specs: Windows XP
Out of the two fans on the back of my computer's tower (It's a dell inspiron 530), the one below the top fan makes a buzzing or grinding noise on occasion. If I lightly tap the vent to the fan, the grinding will stop.

Recently, I've been having more and more trouble with this problem, and I really want to know exactly how to go about exchanging the faulty fan. What kind of fan do I get? What is the process of replacing it? Someone, please help me.

Some fans usually make some noise. That alone is not a problem. Make sure the fan is fit correctly in its place. Keep ur cabinet in the correct position away from any other strong vibrations. Also clean ur fan. Make it stable. Dell wont replace a fan just for noise. U go to the bios and see whether the fan is working well.see the rpms .it should be probably above 10 00. Also can u give me the exact configuration of ur system.
