Computer boots OK but no display on monitor

Specs: Windows XP, Intel Celeron 1.5G
My computer (win XP SP3) boots OK and the monitor turns on but I get a blank screen (white). If I unplug the A/C to the monitor, then plug it back in again, I immediately get a display on the monitor and everything works fine until the next time I boot up again.
