Specs: Windows XP, 2Ghz/2Gb
I am using a HP Compaq 510 notebook. I bought the laptop a week ago. i had remove the synaptics icon from the taskbar by msconfig.exe. then when i rebooted the touch pad was not working. I tried everything uninstall & reinstall, still its not working. I downloaded the drivers from the Hp site too..
in the control panel-mouse-synaptice device setting i cant see any hardware there to enable or disable..
Please help me and tell me what to do about it..

Can't you re-enable it in msconfig?

Are you positive you are downloading the correct driver from the manufacturers website, and that you are following all the installation instructions?
Reinstalling the driver should resolve this issue.

On a slightly related note (more for my own research) are you currently running windows 7 on that laptop? And if so, did you install it yourself or was it preinstalled?
