Sounds like you need to use a PS/2 keyboard to get into the BIOS and enable legacy USB support.

Why did you change the CMOS battery in the first place?

Post the brand and FULL model of your computer.

Is this a custom system or store bought, like Dell, gateway, etc.? If custom your need to start tapping the Del. key continuously as soon as you turn on the computer. If store bought you need to read the screens to see which keystroke gets you into the BIOS (setup) screens and tap just like I described.

Do not connect a PS/2 keyboard while the system is under power. Don't use adapters on it either.

You still have not posted any useful information.

Did you try the suggestions above. If so, you need to tell us what happened.

If all you did was change a dead CMOS battery then you probably disturbed something inside the case. Sounds like some wires are rubbing on a fan. Open the case and look.

Checksum error could just be because you reset to defaults when you removed the CMOS battery.

Were you previously getting that same message before you changed the CMOS battery?
You don't need to flash your BIOS.

"wen i connect the PS/2 keyboard its lights flash" Does that mean you are connecting the PS/2 keyboard while the computer is turned on? That is an invitation to fry the PS/2 port plus the PS/2 keyboard will not work unless it has been connected before your boot up.

You may have the board shorted to the case. Be sure you have metal standoffs of the correct height installed under every screw hole and ONLY under every screw hole.

So do you have it setting outside of the case on cardboard?

To test the board outside the case connect ONLY the following: MBoard, CPU w/HS/fan, 1 stick of RAM, video card or onboard, keyboard, monitor. Only connect the 24 pin main power connector, the auxillary power to board, any aux power required to the video card, CPU fan in the CPU header. Start the board by momentarily shorting the 2 power switch pins.

Do no install any other cards, RAM, header wiring, etc. Board should POST to a screen indicating there is no bootable device. You should hear a single beep.

As stated above start tapping the del key as soon as your fire up the board. You should get into the BIOS and reset date, time, boot order, etc.

Here's your board specs:

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/865GM...

Unplug the power cord & open the case. Unplug all the drives (floppy, optical, HDD) from the board. Remove all RAM except for one good stick. Disconnect all external devices except for the monitor & keyboard. And make sure to use a true PS/2 keyboard, NOT a USB or USB with PS/2 adapter.

Now plug in the power, boot the system & see if you can access the BIOS.
